That is... until I realized that all my favorite brands and witchy service providers use marketing—gasp—as a Batman signal for folks like me to find them.
And they definitely weren't being slimy!
If you've been feeling jaded and repelled by mainstream digital marketing and copywriting advice—I see you. And I invite you to marinate on this mindset shift that has helped hundreds of ethical brands like yours grow online:
Yet, despite the overtime I clocked in at the public library circa 1999-2004, it wasn't until I spent my last year of university burning through Creative Writing and English classes that I realized I might be a writer.
In March 2020, I put up a little profile up on a little site and discovered there are thousands of people with incredible businesses and skills who need a website copywriter to actually share their gifts with others.
Knowing that my words were helping talented strangers sell things they created with their beautiful hands and brains just LIT ME. UP! It felt meaningful. Pure. Wholesome.
But I felt like an outcast, and so did many of my clients. Most copywriters and marketers didn't resonate with me or the types of people and brands I look up to.
So, I became the website copywriter I didn't see—one that's equal parts technical smarts, compassion, and intuition.
Thousands of people are looking for brands who care about fair wages, sustainable materials, and community involvement. But to reach them, you need direct, effective messaging that isn't corny or spammy.
With the word witch, I help creatives and purpose driven brands sell their stuff so we can build the small business ecosystem this world needs.
If you're ready to get clear on your message, connect to your people, and develop a strategy that drives sales (and that you feel good about), let's jam.

The main reason why most heart-led business owners feel repulsed by marketing is because the biggest names out there rely heavily on tricking people into buying. What if you considered your website copywriting a compelling invitation to those already ready to invest in themselves?
SEO, market research, and user experience are key for website success. And sure, people may find your page thanks to algorithms, but they'll only buy or share with their friends if they deeply resonate with your energy. This is why your project starts with an in-depth questionnaire and 60-minute kick-off call to ensure your brand vibe is reflected in every word.
(A relationship between you and your website copywriter; between you and your brand; between you and your clients; and between you and the world.)
In other words, what you get out of your project is a reflection of what you put in. Yes, it's a done-for-you process, but the best website copywriting outcomes blossom when you're fully immersed in the input and feedback process.
Centralized commerce is the root of so much inequality and exploitation in the world. The majority of every dollar spent at corporate giants lines the pockets of billionaires and never gets reinvested in the community. But to ditch this shitty system, we've got to create, support, and uplift alternatives. By helping your small business convert and grow with copywriting, we put profit and power back into local economies! Yes please!
The Word Witch headquarters are in Tkaronto, now known as Toronto, Ontario, CA, the unceded traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Mississaugas of the Credit, the
Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat First Nations. I acknowledge my privilege as a white person who benefits from generations of violence and displacement, and I believe the only way toward justice is through ongoing reparations.
In my business, reparations look like tithing to BIPOC grassroots organizations, getting involved in food justice initiatives, and donating my time and resources to my community whenever possible.

I booked web copy services with Margarita to include local talent and someone I can gain a working relationship with moving forward. I was amazed at how she took my original content, gave it life, and added excitement. No surprises—just a wow factor.

SAME. (And I'm a copywriter). So, I created an About Page Checklist for Service Providers who love writing—just not about themselves. It includes the most effective About page elements I've used to write 100+ service-based websites, along with ideas and prompts for how to implement them & make them uniquely *yours*.
